When we talk about windows vista, we will automatically imagine living in secure and full of digital life. It is fantastic!!! We can access many of the latest technologies easily without wasting time. Windows Vista is a line of operating systems developed by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, Tablet PCs, and media center PCs. Prior to its announcement on July 22, 2005, Windows Vista was known by its codename Longhorn. Development was completed on November 8, 2006. Microsoft has produced the 5 different versions of this software. It is Home Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. Each version is perfectly created for different types of customer. Although it has 5 versions, but we can see in market, there are only 4 version of this Windows Vista. The reason is because Vista Enterprise is not sold in any store. It is sold directly only to corporations. When we compared all of these 5 versions of Windows Vista, it is clearly shown that Vista Ultimate is the greatest version in its feature. In hierarchy, Home Basic has the lowest feature, follow by Home Premium, then Business, Enterprise and Ultimate. Moreover, Windows Vista has a lots of security features to secure the user as well as the computer. User Accounts Controls is the one of Vista’s most important features that requires user to type password in order to install a program. It also will protect Pc from viruses. The Security Centre contains firewall that will protect Pc from incoming signals from hackers, Automatic Updates, virus and spyware protection, Internet security settings, and User Account Control. Windows Defender will protect Pc from spyware. Besides, Protected Mode will prevent hackers from attacked. Phishing Filter will alerts user when user access to fake site. It also prevents user accounts and credit card information from being stolen. Service Hardening prevents invisible background program from tempering with the system files, the Registery, or the network. Furthermore, corporate features let network administrators exert a lots of controls over what a worker are doing. These features are for company purposes. For instance, company network’s geeks will prevents viruses from coming in or import documents for going out by creating a network rules that bans the use of USB flash. Parental Controls will give advantages for parents detect what website that their children have surfed, which people they correspond with online, and even what times of day the have use the machine. From this, they will be the wise parents. Bit Locker Drive Encryption encrypts entire hard drive. If hackers steal and extract the drive, they will get no useful information off it. A new backup program offers two modes, backup by file type or complete PC backup. Last but not least, Address Space Randomization moves system files around in memory randomly. The purpose is to make it extremely difficult to write a virus that will work the same way in every PC. Through Windows Vista, user will easily organize and sharing photo using photo gallery. Windows DVD maker lets user burn video DVDs, complete with a scene menu and background music. Windows Meeting space let user and colleagues see each other’s screens and pass around notes or document across the network or the internet while snipping tool lets user capture rectangular or irregular patches of the screen as graphics, for use in illustrating computer books. Super fetch speeds up PC by analyzing when user tend to use certain program, then it will ready and waiting for user. Ready boost let use the RAM on a flash drive as extra memory for greater speed. The Ease of Access Center includes quick access to common tools, a questionnaire to get recommendations for accessibility settings and tools, and the ability to explore all accessibility settings in seven categories. The categories are use the computer without a display, make the computer easier to see, use the computer without a mouse or keyboard, make the mouse easier to use, make the keyboard easier to use, use text or visual alternatives for sounds, and last but not least make it easier to focus on tasks. The Ease of Access Center can be found in the Control Panel in Windows Vista or by selecting Windows logo key+U. The Ease of Access icon is also available when you are logging into Windows Vista. The Ease of Access Center replaces the Accessibility Wizard and Utilities Manager in previous versions of Windows. Next, Magnifier is a magnification program in Windows Vista that enables user to enlarge a portion of your computer screen in a separate window to make it easier to see. The magnification quality has improved from previous versions. Now user can choose magnification levels up to 16 times the original size, and user can choose to track the mouse, the keyboard, or text editing. In Magnifier, user may invert the colors for better screen legibility, move the Magnifier window anywhere on user screen, choose a docking position which places the magnifier window at the left, top, right, or bottom screen. And adjust the tracking focus so that it follows the movement of the mouse cursor, keyboard focus, or text editing. On-Screen Keyboard in Windows Vista displays a visual keyboard with all of the standard keys on the screen. Instead of relying on the physical keyboard to type, user can select keys using the mouse or another pointing device, a small group of keys, or just one key. Several keyboard layouts are available in On-Screen Keyboard, and views are available to promote faster typing or to give access to the maximum number of keys. User can choose the typing mode that works best them likes clicking mode, hovering mode, or scanning mode. To make the On-Screen Keyboard keys easier to see, user may change the font, font style, and font size from the Settings menu.
